The last few months, I've been looking at neighborhoods, to see where the Flys should put down roots.  I've been using various web sites to screen for good school districts, but to be honest, it's pretty hard to capture the "quality of the school" from just a few numbers (usually some standardized tests).  Alas, I have to work with what information I have, and then I do some additional digging around.  So here's something that I thought was interesting...  It seems that whenever there is a noticeably large concentration of Asians in a suburb, the average test scores seem to be much higher.

Obviously, this is not always the case, and there are plenty of school districts with few Asians that also have extremely high test scores.  Like I'll go to some suburb and start browsing thru, and if there is a cluster of Asians in that suburb, that elementary school will have some of the highest test scores.

Actually, this isn't really meant to be any kind of brag.  In fact, it's more of a beat, but I'll continue in a later post...

HUMOR

Because for the time left today, I want to discuss that "shocker" hand gesture.  A few weeks ago, when we were out-of-town, one of the hotels we stayed at only had like 20 channels, and since I had some work to do on the computer, I let G watch some WWE (professional wrestling) for the first time.  I figured, heck! I started watching pro wrestling when I was about his age - he'll get a kick out of it.  Apparently a particular wrestler made that "shocker" hand gesture and G thought it was cool, so he took it to school.  Of course, being a poker playing and blog writing troll, I have no idea what is going on in pop culture and I had no idea what that hand gesture was.  I just thought it was some weird adaption of like when the 4 Horsemen held up their 4 fingers as a sign of the team.  So now I feel really dumb and need to get G to stop doing that hand gesture before any of the other parents find out it was HIM spreading it across the school.

Thank god we're moving!

ANNOUNCEMENT

Sorry to be such a slacker but I'm also going to skip most Saturday posts (unless I have a Guest Blogger).  I'm making this announcement because I need to skip this Saturday, LDO.  And I'll have more "poker" content, when I actually start playing some more.
