I just found out that someone I know from the forums, came in second in a WSOP NLHE event. *That* close to winning a bracelet, but he still walked away with $380K. Even tho I chat with some of the better online poker players at midstakes, I know of no one who has actually won a bracelet. I'm sure that'll change in the next few years.
One of the things on my bucket list to to final table a major donkament. I think that's do-able. Of course actually winning one would be awesome. One step above would be to win a bracelet at the WSOP. Any bracelet is fine - I may even be okay winning the bracelet for the ladies event. Um... maybe not - I'll have to think about it some more. But some guy recently lost a bet and had to enter it. Not sure what happened to him.
Of course the big prize is winning the bracelet for the main event. In addition to the $5-10 million for first, you probably also get another $5-10 million in endorsements, not to mention you won't have to pay rake at the site you sign with. But of course, if I won, I may just go straight to retirement. And being an older guy, I like the idea of being listed with all the previous winners. I could die and someone (other than my family and friends) would know I was here.
Right now, I'm planning to start entering live tournaments starting in 2012. I think by then D will be old enough for us to take him on longer vacations. I can play for a few weeks and then we can take a long family trip somewhere fun. Lately, G has a fascination with mobile homes. It all started with a lego toy we got him. So renting a mobile home and taking a drive around the National Parks will be probably be first on the list. Shockingly, renting a mobile home is waay more expensive than staying at a hotel. Go figure. And afterward, we can do stuff like Mexico, Hawaii, etc. Decisions. Decisions.
