Week 3 was pretty good.  I made 3+K each of the 3 full sessions I played.  I'm finally close to being flat ev this month.  I also stopped playing 1/2 Rush this week.  While I enjoyed just getting the feel of low-risk grinding, it was taking up almost half of my hands, and I wasn't making much money doing that.  But I was glad I did it, as it allowed me to work on a few things.  Most importantly, I feel pretty confident again in my game.

Playing only 15K hands in a week is pretty sad, but I feel pretty rested and am looking forward to getting back on a good play schedule.  I tried putting in a long session today, but was only able to play 6 hours.  I guess to a lot of people, playing 6 hours of non-stop poker is a lot.  But I already have nine 8+ hour sessions this month.  I took a break to have dinner and read G a bedtime book, and now I'm a little too groggy to play.  Probably a combination of being down 1.5K at one point, rallying to be up 3.1K, eating pizza, having a beer to wash it down and sipping the glass of muscat that we had left over.

I got up a little late today and wasn't able to assemble the smoker / grill, so I'll have to do it tomorrow.  Mrs. Fly and I had a good time after dinner going over recipes for Sunday.  We decided on a 2.5 hour recipe for Memphis style ribs and a 2 hour recipe for chicken.  Since this is our first time using a smoker, going for an 8+ hour recipe is probably not the best idea.  As a test run of the grill, tomorrow we're going to grill some flank steak and make some grilled chicken wings (sort of like the wings at Bertucci's, which are pretty good). We went to Buffalo Wild Wings a few days ago, so I'm a little OD'ed on wings, but Mrs. Fly seems to have a craving.  This may be hard to believe, but as much as I love fatty dead animal, I like variety.

I assembled the grill - the job looked much worse than it actually was.  Now I'm in the middle of curing the grill for use.  Apparently you have to leave a fire in there for 3 hours before you can use it.  Ahhh...  the things suburban noobs learn.  The Cowboy brand lump charcoal look like remnants from a flooring shop.  Sort of makes it a little less appetizing.  I guess the briquettes are made from the same material (or worse), but at least with briquettes, you're not staring at pieces of wood with tongues and grooves in them.  I hope they took the polyurethane finish off first.  I'm going to Home Depot later and get some regular charcoal until I find a better lump charcoal brand.  The saga continues...
