Well, chalk up another meh month. This one hurts a little more because after months and months of "retooling" at small stakes, I started playing predominantly midstakes again and had a bad month. Since my 1/2 win rate is reasonably high, I suppose I could just make a lot more stress-free money grinding 1/2 than playing 2/4+. I mean like half the guys who posted graphs in the small stakes thread made more than I did. But where would be the fun and challenge in that?
If I were trading, this would probably be around the time of the year my manager would take me aside and give me the "you still have two months to make your year" speech - that year-end presents a lot of opportunities and that you need to be in the right mindset to take advantage of them. Year-end for poker is not quite as juicy, but I do think it's some of the better months out of the year. Maybe something to do with all the donks aflush with holiday cash. Or maybe all the college regs having to study for finals and going home for the holidays, where they have to spend their days entertaining Aunt Eunice rather than grinding. Anyway, the last two months of the year have historically been pretty good for me. So we'll see how it goes.
WHAT'S FOR DINNER?
My nun aunt's visit was somewhat uneventful. She invited over a priest distant relative (related thru my great grandfather) who was serving central CT who I had never met before. The dude pretty much gave me the cold shoulder the whole time (I suspect it's over something that happened a while back, but I'm not going to get into juicy family gossip now). At least he had the good sense to not say anything to me about it. Anyway, since all my aunts (who are super-devout Catholics) were riveted by the priest, this freed up a bunch of time for me to hang out with my cousins and my brother (who I don't get to see that often).
Mrs. Fly made an awesome feast of beef tenderlion with mushroom sauce, glazed ham, sweet potato casserole, pasta with Alfredo sauce (later post), and her Caesar salad. Here are appetizers. The new addition is Mrs. Fly's orange flavored wings. I think I talked about them a week ago, but senility is a beeyotch. My 3 year old nephew ate like 10 of Mrs. Fly's deviled eggs (five whole eggs). I think if they ever do a remake of Cool Hand Luke, he's the guy.
And for dessert, my sister-in-law brought over mini cupcakes from Manhattan. I could've eaten like 20 of those things, but all the kids were camped out in front of them, and I didn't want to make them cry.
