So before the flood of hate mail comes in: "OMG! Doublefly's kids are going to hell" and "I knew it! A gambling degenerate who posts photos of cats masturbating and nude married women can't be a god-fearing man." Most people who know me (religious and non-religious) say I'm one of the most "Christian" people they know. Just because you don't believe in God, doesn't mean you can't be good to your family, friends and neighbors imo.
Anyway, my uncle (the priest) is in town and will be coming over for dinner tomorrow. I was about to order some beef from a restaurant and was informed it was Lent. That's how religious I am - I didn't even realize I was about to serve beef to a priest on a Friday during Lent. Doh! Even tho we're on opposite ends of the religion spectrum, I'm looking forward to seeing him. He lives far away and is super busy so I only get to see him every 5 years or so. Altho I generally don't have a positive view on the priesthood, he's easily the best priest I know. People are always giving him stuff, and he always gives it to the poor. You may be saying, "isn't that what you're supposed to do?" Yes, but you would be surprised. It pisses the hell out of me when I see the local minister of a modest income town driving around in a Mercedes. And don't even get me started about the high profile scandals. Anyway, full trip report in the next few days.
WHAT'S FOR DINNER?
Mrs. Fly is a little under the weather and so I decided to give her a break and took the boys ice skating, to the toy store (later post) and then for dinner. Taking the boys out for dinner is almost always McDonalds. The diet just went all downhill from there. Growing up somewhat poor, I can't throw away food - especially not McDonald's. As a kid, we only got to eat at McDonald's like once a month (if that). So when G couldn't finish his cheeseburger (because he had like 10 chicken nuggets) - I "had to" eat it. At least that's the excuse I'm going with this time. The same fate for the leftover fries and the 4th nugget that D started to gnaw on. But thanks to my 250 calorie lunch, I still had under 2K calories for the day - I hope. Doh!
