I'm actually shocked I got in 24K hands last week.  Most of it was the March 1 doomswitch, but iirc March 2 was more of the same.  I then spent the rest of the week working on improving some of my many leaks at 1/2 Rush.  Losing money at 2/4+ and grinding it back at lower stakes sucks.  I think Rush is marginally better than regular tables for training purposes because you basically get a new and random table every time, so you can focus more on what you're trying to work on (rather than table dynamics).  I obviously can't be specific about what I'm trying to do, but I think it very important to be able to play more than one style of poker.  I think another week of working on a few things and I'll head back to 2/4+ the rest of the month (assuming there are enough tables).

One of the more interesting developments last week in online poker is that a player (Turtlelicious) has a prop bet where he is trying to make $40K at 1/2 in a month.  200 buy-ins is fairly impressive - he would basically have to play about 10-12 hours a day every day the entire month and maintain a decent win rate to accomplish this.  He is getting 4 to 1 odds, so the poker community has wagered $100K to his $25K that he can't do it.  If he succeeds, he will get $140+K for the month, which is a really good month by any standard.  I think the most difficult part will be for him to play that many hours.  10-12 hours a day doesn't sound like a lot, but I think his previous high in terms of hours played in a month is closer to 100.  So he basically needs to play three times as much as he's played in any month.  If I had to choose, I would vote against him being able to do it, but I think the odds are about right.  Anyway, it just goes to show that even at 1/2, there is decent money to be made.

Who knows?  Maybe if a few people fail and I'm short of my $500K goal for the year, I may give it a shot later in the year.  There are plenty of other ways to make money in online poker than just playing.  A number of players coach (making a one to a few hundred dollars an hour) or stake other players (getting 40% of winnings or so).  But the most interesting are the prop bets.  Someone played 60K hands IN ONE DAY!!! while maintaining a positive win rate.   I think the record for most number of hands in a month is around 600K, but one guy claims he can do a million.  Personally, I don't think the volume bets are as interesting as the profit bets - since that's what poker's all about.  The last big one was Zachvac winning 150 buy-ins at 0.5/1 getting 3 to 1.
