On the diet front, I don't want to do anything drastic - just cut back a little on portions and Mrs. Fly will substitute the "country fried steak" type dinners with a grilled fish or baked chicken type of dinner. If by mid year, I'm not satisfied with the progress, I'll have to do something more drastic, but let's hope it doesn't come to that. I stocked up on these Lean Cuisine meals at Costco. They taste better than cardboard and are only 250 calories, so I'm pretty happy with them. I'll probably switch between that and bagels with cream cheese and lox in the day, and enjoy whatever Mrs. Fly cooks up at night.
As for exercise, my favorite form of cardio was rowing (when I was younger). Unfortunately, it puts a lot of stress on your lower back and is not really an ideal exercise for the supremely out-of-shape (like me). I might be able to give it a go, but my ankle is still sore. Maybe later in the year I can pick it up again. So I'm going to just walk/run on Mrs. Fly's treadmill. Plan B would be to get an elliptical machine and put it in my office. The treadmill's a little inconvenient because it's in the room below the master bedroom. I think I would most likely want to work out after my sessions (around 4-6AM), so picking a quiet exercise activity is important as I don't wake up the house. For the 2+2ers out there, that does not count as exercise.WHAT'S NOT FOR DESSERT?
Mrs. Fly went to lunch with some of the neighborhood women and brought back cupcakes. I was about to reach for one and then I remembered I was supposed to be on a diet. The whole time I'm having dinner, the dessert tray is just staring back at me with three cupcakes and the leftover chocolate ring cake from the day before. Since I won't be around any more for food clean-up duty, the rest of the family will be getting fatter. So on day 2, the score is DoubleFly 1 - Food 1 (altho steak >>> dessert).
