Lately, we've had a family problem.  G was caught lying.  Not once, but TWICE in the same week!!!  I always thought D would be the one I would have to post bail for first, but I see now that it's going to be a neck-to-neck race to see who goes to prison first.  Gotta start grinding some more for more bail money.  I wonder if they give 2 for 1 specials at the court house?

Last week, G comes home and says he has no homework.  It did not take Mrs. Fly long to peer into his soul and figure out he was lying.  This is probably another reason we're happily married - if I were to stray, I'm pretty sure Mrs. Fly can see past my awesome poker face and figure out what I'm up to.  I guess all those eyes of newt, toes of frogs, wool of bats, and tongues of dogs she has in her closet are good for something.

Me being Mr. Softie, I realize the weekend is coming up in a few days, so I say in my sternest voice "no TV, Wii, DS, itouch, computer, or Bakugan for 3 days.  And don't let it happen again!"  But of course as I'm watching him sniffling with tears rolling down his pudgy cheeks, I'm thinking to myself, "Aw...  He looks so cute!"

Then two days later he claimed that his teacher didn't give him a book he was supposed to read.  Again, Mrs. Fly consulted with the eye of newt, et al and again discerned that he was lying.  Turns out he left the book at school on purpose, so he wouldn't have to read it.  Now he's serving a ten day ban on all electronics.  So what started off being cute has now gotten somewhat serious.  Having been a kid once myself, I realize there are tons of fun things to do other than homework.  But somehow, we have to figure out how to instill more of a sense of work ethic and responsibility in him (later post).  The nice thing is, since we're both home, we caught it pretty early, so we have plenty of time.  And Mrs. Fly is just wicked on-top of things.  I'm scared.
