WHAT'S FOR DINNERS? (Weekend Edition)

On Saturday, we had some school couples over for dinner. I never mentioned this, but Atta (of the Ants) is 6 months pregnant. I hope that their child is a masculine child. O wait! It is! Congratulations Flik & Atta! As they say in Asia, "one son equals ten daughters." I can see where those types of sayings would come from (esp in a patriarchal agrarian society), but they just sound so silly now. My all-time favorite about daughters is "another useless branch on the tree." LOL?

Mrs. Fly made her usual appetizers, including dumplings and Vietnamese summer rolls. For dinner, we had seafood paella, chicken paprika, roasted vegetables and salad. It's hard to tell that there are two whole lobsters in this paella, which was very good ldo. But Atta doesn't like seafood ("L"!) so Mrs. Fly made one of Atta's favorites, the chicken paprika. I was too busy drinking to take photos of the table. Doh!

On Sunday, we were invited over to Maria and Luigi's house for dinner. Maria's probably the only person I know who can stand toe to toe with Mrs. Fly. She made homemade dumplings, sirloin tips for the kids and rack of lamb for us. Sadly, I had as many bones on my plate as everyone else combined. They also had shrimp cocktail and Mrs. Fly made clams casino for appetizers, so it was a good evening of drinking and eating. Don't want to get on the scale now. :-(
