GTFO August! Most of the month felt pretty gut wrenching, even tho I suppose the graph has a somewhat upward trajectory. But there's a lot of agony the winnings and EV lines don't capture. I played a marathon 12K hand session on August 31 to try and get to the top 17 of my rake race, but I think there's a reasonable chance I fell short. I still went for it because I figure if I didn't make it, that would be my punishment for being such a lazy dumb ass for waiting til the last minute.I kept getting raped at soft 2/4 tables most of the month, which is always super-frustrating. Other than that, nothing noteworthy on the table breakdown. Not sure what the "1/2 NL" is, because I never played non-rush 1/2 tables. I think it must be rush hands from my laptop that got imported incorrectly. It *felt* like I ran bad this month (not talking about EV), but it's really hard to say without more data, so I'm hoping September turns out better. I still have things I need to do to get better tho. And I swear the 2/4 rush guys suck, but for some reason, I can't make any money off of that game. So frustrating! Where's Mrs. Fly?!?
POKER
For the last 6 months or so, people have been saying how the games are dead and it's hard to make money playing poker. For the whiners and non-believers out there, I present to you Andrew Song's graph for the month of August. Normally, I would make this graph small, but this graph deserves to posted as large as possible. The dude made $110+K grinding mid to high stakes. I play small to mid stakes. But obviously from the straight-line trajectory of that graph, it's not only possible to make a ton of money, it's possible to make money consistently. I think this is hands down the best monthly graph I've ever seen for mid to high stakes, outside of Nanonoko (who does it every month). Nolan and John K have had 80K months this year. This graph is going to be my motivation for the rest of the year. Sure there might be less fish money out there. But obviously, taking fishy regs' money is a lot more profitable. Now you just have to go get it!
