Feels a little strange that I let the cat out of the bag with my photo post yesterday.  It's like if Clark Kent came out and told everyone who he was.  Umm... Actually in the comic book world, it's probably more like revealing that Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot is the Penguin.  When you're used to doing something incognito, it's a different feeling when people know who you are.

The reaction in the thread was a little surprising - overwhelmingly, people thought I was a balding middle-aged to senior citizen white dude.  I wonder why...  Probably because this is my 2+2 avatar - a goofy middle aged white guy.  There's something about Homer that I can totally relate to.

So the avatar is probably like 95% of why very few people thought I was Asian.  But I guess there's also some stereotyping going on.  I used to be a (somewhat) successful trader, wrote pretty well, weigh 258lbs and was somewhat entertaining.  Doesn't own a dry cleaner or a nail salon.  Dude can't possibly be Asian!  I guess Asians (in particular Asian males) don't have a great stereotype (unless you consider "good at math" a great thing).  Even tho I'm Asian, if you say "Asian male," the first two images I get is of Jackie Chan and Long Duk Dong (from Sixteen Candles).

What's a happenin' hot stuff?
One of the things I wanted to do with my blog was to change some negative stereotypes of poker players.  But maybe along the way, I can change some stereotypes about Asians as well.
