G not only turned 7 this week (Happy Birthday G!!!), but this is also the first the first week of school. Recently, there was an open house at his school to meet the new teacher and to meet the other kids and parents in the class. It's a pretty small school, so we probably knew 2/3 of the kids and parents just from having gone thru kindergarten and first grade, and from Mrs. Fly being very involved in the neighborhood. As Mrs. Fly's talking to the other moms, we find out that one of the boys in the class might be a bully. Apparently at that age, girls are more likely than boys to talk about it, so we were alerted by two girls in the class. G had no comment. O really?!?I didn't get all the details, but Double-"Bully Crusher"-Fly is on it! Oh btw... that bully from G's day camp ended up getting a warning and got kicked out of camp a few days later. Or so the camp counselors would have you believe... they probably say that about all the cases of missing bodies, so as not to scare the kids. Mu ha ha ha.
Mrs. Fly wants to invite the kid over for a play date, just so we can check him out. Oh, I'll be "checking him out" all right! And maybe pick an opportune time to put the FEAR OF DOUBLEFLY in him! Yes, I know I'm a huge fully-grown man about to torment a 7 year old kid. That's what makes it scary!!! ;-)
Seriously tho, I think it's about time I took G to learn a martial art. It's something everyone should know - like swimming, fixing a broken door, removing a bra with one hand, getting blood stains off of drapes, etc. You know - the usual stuff. When he was younger, I was a little afraid of getting a call from the principal that G broke someone's nose, but now that he's older and he's one of the gentler kids I know, I have fewer concerns about that. Altho there was that time he punched D in the head - it's so hard to scold your kid when what you really want to do is burst out laughing and give him a high five (D deserved it). Where are those Social Services people?!?
Anyway, the martial arts saga to continue in future posts.
