The other day, I had one of my rare Sundays free, so I decided to do what most poker donks do on Sundays... which is play MTTs while watching football.  I entered 7 and cashed in ZERO!!!  $946 down the drain (well, technically much less since I mostly used my Ironman medals and FT points).  Even tho I made $1700 in cash games at the same time, I still felt like crap.  There's something about getting whittled down, losing a flip, trying to bluff a 'tard, or losing as an overhwelming all-in favorite that's just soul-crushing.  After my last MTT was over, I lost all desire to play any more.  I still got in 6 1/2 hours, but that's probably half of what I probably would have played on a free Sunday.

Football is hands-down my favorite sport to watch.  So as you could imagine, I really enjoy this time of year - start of the NFL season, start of college football, and thow in MLB season-end, and it's got to be the the fullest calendar for a sports fan.  Unfortunately, something happened since last year.  I used to be able to watch football games and multitable, but I seem to be getting more distracted this year.  I can play watching baseball or golf (because most of the time, nothing happens), but there is so much action in football that you can't take your eye off of it.  Not sure if it was because I was playing MTTs, regular cash tables and rush tables at the same time tho.

Which leads me to the main point of this post.  One of the well-respected mid to high stakes grinders told me I may be spreading myself too thin - that I should focus on one thing.  Jack of all trades - master of none.  Sunday was definitely a day where maybe I was doing too much.  MTT strategy, cash game strategy and Rush strategy are all a little different.  I was also playing both FR and 6max and multiple stakes.  Maybe if I just focused on MTTs, I could have had better results.

I definitely need to balance my need to get better at many things, my need for variety, and focusing on improving one thing at a time. I still seem to be making progress, but I think I'll make a conscious effort not to do too many different poker activities at one time.  And as sad as this is to say, I may have to watch less distracting TV.  I suppose there are always Detroit Lions games.

HUMOR

Spending time on an internet forum, I get exposed to a lot of various websites, but this one is one of the fresher and funniest I've seen.  The premise is that the guy sends obnoxious emails to people who put classified ads - so if you like the radio "phone taps," you'll really enjoy this.

Obviously not as funny if you are one of the recipients.
