Happy Labor Day (yesterday)!  I suppose it's probably one of the less meaningful holidays in the federal circuit, but who's going to complain about a day off?!?  It's also the unofficial end of summer.  I can't believe it's over already - it seemed like it just began...  Hmm...  reminds me of something Mrs. Fly was saying to me the other day.  But I digress.

We never got around to getting the season pass to the Six Flags parks, but they'll be there next year.  We may look into taking a day trip to one of the local amusement parks in the fall.  D's taking a keen interest in animals so we'll have to sign up for an annual family pass to the Bronx Zoo soon (later post).  Now that the weather's getting nicer, we can plan some more outdoor activities without having to worry about the male Flys sweating to death.

The long holiday weekend just whizzed by.  We had my nephew's birthday party Saturday.  Mrs. Fly and G went to another BBQ later that day while I spent the afternoon with my mother.  We went to a pool party on Sunday (a dinner club event), where I probably had a little too much to drink.  But my boss is pretty understanding about me taking as many days off as I need to, so no big deal.

Monday, we had G's birthday party.  We gave him a choice of having a "standard" kid's party at one of the many local venues (bowling alley, arcade, indoor play area, nature center, etc.) or taking only a dozen of his friends to see a movie.  G mercifully chose the latter.  So we got tickets to see Toy Story 3 in 3D.  I wish I could give you a movie review, but I got to see less than half of it.  One kid was a no-show because the frazzled mom completely forgot it was today, and I waited outside of the theater for over 35 minutes.  Then one kid got scared in the middle of the movie, so I took him outside and bought him a soda.  Apparently, he had seen the movie already(!!!), but was scared anyway.  So I sat with him until he felt safe to go back inside.  He's actually one of the older kids too.  Normally, this would be the "mock the little wuss" portion of the blog, but since he's the son of a close friend of mine from high school, I will refrain.  Instead, I will just mock my buddy and say, "the apple does not fall far from the tree."  ;-)

Thanks to the long holiday weekend, I'm not even in the top 150 of my rake race.  The loafing's over - the grind starts tonight!
