Most online poker players I chat with online seem very nice, but are not very motivated.  So when a bunch of players got together to start a poker web site, I was I was curious.  I knew they formed a "study group" to talk about strategies, but starting your own web site take a lot more planning and drive.  Their web site is called LifeFish.  The logo looked a little funny to me at first, but when it was explained to me that it reads the same upside-down, like a deck of cards, it made a lot more sense.  Clever bastards!

They also came up with some clever graphics.  I got a kick out of how they made cartoon charicatures of themselves:
From left to right: Joopjan, MaliceUW, Raiderduck, Jasons0147, pwnchizzle, EurekaKid, skelm, Newmanmi, Zachvach, LacieK, Knox828, Dutchin, Pettytheft, Betterthanyou1 and in the front – robsainter.

I especially liked the graphics on their prop bet blog post, regarding their $1000 bet on who can go longest without a haircut:

Sainter wrote songs for the "top" ten FT regs.  I was #1 baby!!!  Alas, this was not a top ten list based on quality of play.  :-(  And I think he dissed me three times in the song:

He may be old, and play a nitty style
But everything he lacks, well he makes up in pure grind

I've played with about half of them and know one or two more from the forums.  Individually, a number of them had their own blogs, but most of them were only updated a few times a month, which basically makes them hard to follow.  So by joining forces, they can probably post on a daily-ish basis.  It's the parable of the sticks in real life - fifteen sticks together are stronger than fifteen sticks individually.  Not sure what other features they have planned for the site, but this is a good foundation for future (commercial?) endeavors.  A number of the players are involved in coaching and a few of them have worked on a book that is supposed to be published.  So they shouldn't have any problems with content.

So far it's been as good as this blog.  DamnRinger even said it was better than mine: "I never thought I'd find a poker blog more entertaining than doublefly's but lifefish is amazing so far guys."  Hmm... I'll have to blacklist him off the potential linner invite list.  Check it out if you want to see what a bunch of successful younger poker players are up to.
