HANDS

The first day of play in the New Year, my KK ran into AA THREE times.  Fortunately, I only lost 153 big blinds.  One was a backraise from EP (but I thought AK was possible so I had to shove).  One was a 41bb shortie (lol).  But the last was this hand vs an 11/6.  I'm generally of the opinion that under most normal circumstances, if you have KK, you just try to get it in preflop.  If the guy 4bet/calls and shows you AA, cooler.  If you squeeze, get backraised by MP1 and get shown AA, cooler.  If you get cold 4bet from the blinds and get shown AA, cooler.  Vs a tight 11/6???

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $4.00 BB (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

MP1 ($458.20)
MP2 ($405.80)
MP3 ($427.10)
Hero (CO) ($510)
Button ($707.20)
SB ($755.30)
BB ($505.10)
UTG ($561)
UTG+1 ($311.90)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K, K
3 folds, MP2 bets $8, 1 fold, Hero calls $8, 3 folds
[A minraise from MP2 playing 11/6.  Must be weak...  need to raise for value...  NOT!  Well, I could, but I would seriously have to consider folding if he 4bet me.  He's an 11/6 with a  2.3 3bet!]

Flop: ($22) 8, 3, Q (2 players)
MP2 bets $12, Hero calls $12
[Smallish bet.  Might be weak... time to raise for value...  NOT!]

Turn: ($46) 9 (2 players)
MP2 bets $28, Hero calls $28
[Smallish bet on ridiculously wet turn.  Might be weak... time to raise for value...  NOT!  In retrospect, I thought it might be a mistake not to raise the flop or turn for value.  But in looking at it again, there are 20 combos of value hands that have me crushed on the turn (assuming he plays JTs from MP), but only 17 combos of value hands I beat (not even sure if he bets the turn w QJs).  Sadly, his opening range was too tight and his turn range too nitty for there to be a huge bluff range.  So it's closer than I thought... but the flop's a raise.]

River: ($102) 10 (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero checks

Total pot: $102 | Rake: $3
Main pot: $102 between MP2 and Hero, won by MP2

Results:
MP2 had A, A (one pair, Aces).
Hero had K, K (one pair, Kings).
Outcome: MP2 won $99

So sometimes, a "cooler" is not a cooler.  If I played this more correctly and raised the flop, maybe I lose 25bbs, but I'm certainly not getting stacked.
