So you may be saying to yourself, "Dude, the last we saw a few months ago, you weighted 258. Wha happa?" Well, my in-laws fed us really well over the holidays. Here is a small sample:
"A" got a Xmas shipment of Italian subs from Portillo's of Chicago. Basically one of the better French Dip sandwiches I've had, altho apparently the mail order doesn't taste nearly as good as at the store. The thing that made it really good was that the beef was sliced super-thin so there was more surface area for the gravy.
New Year's Eve dinner was probably the best dinner I had down there... grilled lemongrass shrimp, standing rib roast (which was overcooked, but still very good), Yorkshire pudding (bread cooked in beef fat), butter rice, roasted herb potatoes and some random veggies. Then on New Year's Day, we had duk mandoo gook. Koreans have some form of rice cake soup on the New Year. I *think* rice cakes are supposed to be a symbol of prosperity, but as you all know, I'm a faux Korean. Show me the money!
That meal was actually fairly healthy so we had to stop by somewhere for dessert...
Not sure what happened to Krispy Kreme - like 5 years ago, they opened new branches all over the place, but I think expansion did not treat them well, so now, it's hard to find in the metro NYC area. But you really can't beat fresh donuts off the fryer. And this photo collage doesn't even include the food we had before NYE or the absurd amount of chicken wings, ribs, sushi and short ribs we had at the family & friend Secret Santa we had on Sunday.
And that concludes the instruction post on how to gain a pound a day over the holidays.
